Where PDF has been selected as an available output format, a PDF preview can be enabled using the PDF icon at the top of the preview pane. This icon is available when either the Chart or Details tab is selected.
Standard report preview (PDF preview not enabled):
PDF Preview enabled:
Note that PDF preview may not be supported by all browsers, in which case the option to download a PDF copy of the report will be shown instead.
Repeat Header and Footer Images
Where the PDF reports spans multiple pages, the Report Header and Footer images, defined in Configuration > Report Settings, can be configured to repeat on each page of the PDF output.
By default, the Repeat on each page setting is not selected, and the header and footer will appear only once (at the top and bottom of the entire output, respectively).
Choose to enable separately for either header and/or footer to repeat the image on each page of the PDF output.
PDF Watermarks
A repeating watermark can be set for any report configured for PDF output and is configured from the Watermark section of the Properties panel. This can be used to classify reports that may contain important or sensitive information, for example.
Enabling WATERMARKs
Enable the feature for the current report by selecting either the Image or Text option.
Watermarks can only be applied to reports where PDF is the only output option.
Therefore, if the Standard or Excel outputs are currently selected, a message will be shown informing that these outputs will no longer be available for the current report when setting the watermark.
Image Watermarks
The Image option allows the report creator to select from a custom predefined gallery of images that must first be configured by a system administrator in Configuration > Report Settings.
If no images have yet been uploaded, the report creator will see the warning below.
Provided that at least one watermark image has been uploaded to Configuration > Report Settings , a watermark image can be applied to a report by using the Select Image button in the Watermark section of the report’s Properties panel.
This loads a gallery view of all the system configured watermark images:
Simply select the desired image to apply it to the report.
To preview the report with the watermark you must select the PDF preview mode if it isn’t already active.
The transparency of the image is set to 50% by default and can be amended in 5% increments. 0% will show the solid image, and 100% will be fully transparent.
The size of the watermark is dependent on the size of the image uploaded and cannot be resized within report configuration. Please consider uploading a larger image if required.
Text Watermarks
The Text watermark option allows custom wording of up to 70 characters to be displayed on the report.
The following options are available:
- Text to Display: The watermark text, up to 70 characters.
- Font family: Choose from one of ten fonts.
- Font size: To set the size of the text. If the size is too large for the string, auto-scaling will be applied.
- Text colour: Select from a colour from the palette or enter a HEX code.
- Orientation: Diagonal or horizontal.
Note, to control the transparency of a text watermark, simply choose a lighter or darker shade of the text colour.
Configuring Watermark Images (System Administrators)
Up to 10 images can be loaded into the system, for use as watermarks on individual chart and data reports.
These are added in Configuration > Report Settings > Watermark Images.
Select Choose File… to add an image. Additional images, up to a maximum of 10, can be added by selecting the Add button and repeating the process.
Watermark Images that are not actively referenced in a report can be deleted using the Clear button and then saving changes.
Images currently used as a watermark image in one or more reports cannot be deleted, but the image can be replaced by selecting the Choose File option. A warning will be shown to prevent deletion of a watermark image being used by one or more reports.
