The entries at this screen affect users when they log in.
Under normal circumstances, the product will be unlocked, allowing access to all authorized users. However, you can change the status to System Locked. This does not exclude users who have already accessed the system but prevents users from logging on apart from the one who set the lock.
If you do lock the system, you can enter a message that is displayed to users who attempt to log in. This should tell them why access is refused and may advise when the system will become available.
Uncheck System Locked once the system becomes fully available again.
Under the Password heading, the first two entries apply to all users, except where their own login record indicates their password never expires. In other cases, indicate if passwords are to expire and, if so, the number of days’ life for a password and details of any warning period before it expires. When these settings are made, the user will, on logging in to the system:
•receive a warning if the password is to expire within the stated number of days; a new password can be set at this time or be left until later
•have to enter a new password once it has expired, before accessing the system.
For all users, you can set:
•the minimum length allowed for a password; this must be at least six characters, made up of two lowercase, two uppercase and two numbers, but you can increase the minimum length for stronger passwords
•the number of months after a password is changed before the same one can be used again.
NOTE: |
Checking the Enable Continuous Login box allows users to access the system without logging in again until the specified number of days has elapsed. However:
•individual users must have the feature set on either through their login or default setting
•an initial login is necessary after the setting is made but not again until the expiry date
•to preserve the setting, users must exit the system without logging out, otherwise login will be necessary on the next access
•for security reasons, user identifier and password are required to be entered for the Login and Login Profile search if accessing the system without logging in.
